An Absent Pebble in Materialized Water |

(This project is exhibited at the 2009 Gwangju Design Biennale)
.
The Korean garden is a spontaneous density field, in which formal elements and formless elements are juxtaposed to render a synthetic spatial sensation. This spatial installation captures this condition through the formation of a synthetic space that reverses the logic of formal and formless elements: water as formless element is materialized through the repetition of its texture, while pebble as a formal element is subtracted from the materialized water field to be an absent figure. This dichotomy freezes the moment, where formal element “resting” in a formless environment. It also creates an authentic spatial essence for “resting”.
